The agenda of the United Nations Human Rights Council addresses the violation of human rights taking place focused in the Jammu and Kashmir region supposedly belonging to both India and Pakistan. Several cases of violation of fundamental rights in this region have been reported and the committee on its very first day took this into account. Several remarks directing to the vulnerability of children and women due to military infiltration were made. Similarly, the displacement of the ancient pundits (previous inhabitants of the region) and their rehabilitation were debated upon.

As tensions between the delegates of India and Pakistan grew the discussion rather focused on the conflict between the respective countries. The committee however, ended on consensus regarding provision of foreign aid and a UN subordinate body for the supervision of arms control and military infiltration.
