Rashtriya MUN: Opening Ceremony

Sarvodaya Thapa, the president of the second edition of the Rashtriya MUN franchise, inaugurated the opening ceremony held at Ullens School. Followed by a speech given by Mr. Bishesh Bajracharya who reprised his role as the secretary general, he addressed national issues of brain drain, its impacts and a wider insight and outcome of MUN.

The chief guest for this event, Mr. Surya Kiran Gurung- a former ambassador to the federation of Russia, Secretary General of the house of representatives of Nepal and current chairperson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission- gave a motivating and influential speech. Leaving the participants in awe, he questioned the significance and working procedures of the UN in the current world, post World War 2 and current crises.

The auditorium hall was full with approximately 120 delegates, from various backgrounds, age groups and experience. Experienced delegates were eagerly waiting for the sessions to commence where as, the first timers seemed anxious about the proceedings. The opening ceremony was a success, and we hope this MUN will be too.
